Gifting the Men

The man was put in charge of finding gifts for the groomsmen. He knew about this task for many many many months. He obviously knows the guys a lot better than I do, so I thought it would be easier for him to come up with a gift for the men. I simply forgot about how hard it is for him to make up his mind and how he likes to wait until the last minute to get things done.

How do you say thanks in an appropriate way without getting a gift that won't be shoved in a drawer and forgotten about for all eternity?

I wish I had the answer to that one. I really do.

Most of the groomsmen gifts you see people give wouldn't be appreciated by this group of guys. Really nice Cufflinks would never be used, they just aren't cufflink kind of guys. Cool colored socks to color coordinate the looks on the wedding day? I'll be lucky if they don't wear the big white crew socks with their tuxes. A day of golfing? Noppers, not for these guys.

The fact that they are all so diverse certainly made the gifting task a lot harder.

After looking online with no luck, the man got annoyed. He thought about getting them all something different, but he wasn't even liking the ideas of gifts found online. Somehow they all looked chintzy to him, not good enough for his men.

So the Man took to the mall. He shopped all day last Friday while I was working (I would have rather been shopping), and he came up with this:(sorry for the fuzzy picture, it's off the things remembered website)*

It's a box. He's going to have their names engraved somehow, although he isn't sure if he's doing first or just last name or initials. Inside the box you will find a flask, a cigar holder and a cigar cutter.

The Man thought he'd fill the flask with some crown royal and buy some Cubans. The man picked out a gift that was a little more than we thought we'd spend, since we have 7 groomsmen it adds up fast. I actually think all of the groomsmen will all really like it.

*not sure if this is the actual set, but he got something similar from things remembered.

Did you have trouble picking out groomsmen gifts?
